Corical maps change with the use of aferent (input) pathways. Modiicaion of topographical maps in somatosensory cortex: details of topographical maps vary considerably from individual to another. Increased use of selected ingers enlarges the corical representaion of those ingers. Intense disuse of a hand produces enlargement of corical areas neighboring the hand-area (ex. Learning is the process by which experiences change our nervous system: these changes are referred to as memories. Donald hebb: proposed a theory explaining how simuli are represented in the brain, hebb rule. A connecion between 2 neurons takes place only if both neurons are iring at about the same ime. Make connecions during irst experience and is more readily available when experienced again. If a synapse repeatedly becomes acive at about the same ime the post-synapic neurons ires, changes will take place in the structure or chemistry of the synapse that will strengthen it.
