Involve the use of self-report measured variables in descripive research. Can be used to collect either qualitaive data or quanitaive data. Can be administered either through: an interview (oral) Beter comparison of responses: a writen quesionnaire. People don"t know the cuases of their own behaviour. People are not good at predicing their future behaviour. People are not telling you what they know because of: social desirability bias, demand characterisics. Populaion: all individuals of interest, surveying everyone census. Sample: the speciic set of people who paricipate in the study. The result from the sample are generalized to the populaion. How accurately we can generalize from a sample to the populaion depends on the representaiveness of the sample. Biased sample: populaion of a college, only sample students. Whenever samples are used, the researcher will never be able to know exactly the true characterisics of the populaion. Representaive sample: approximately the same as the populaion in every important respect.
