Short term memory and long term memory are distinctly separate, explicit and implicit memory is separated to conscious and unconscious. Episodic - autobiographical, facts, personal events, experiences. Friends, use of language, writing, school knowledge, reasoning, birth date, address etc. Medial temporal lobe amnesia - to get amnesia you need bilateral damage. Semantics should operate normally, but explicit will be gone. have trouble imagining future events. (you need a long enough memory to create images in your mind) Medial temporal - amygdala, hippocampus and more. Delayed non matching to sample task - 1st step the monkey needs to displace an object to get a reward underneath. then they get a break. Then they get the choice of the objects again, and see if they will pick it again. this shows episodic memory.
