A state of intense concentration, focus, and absorption, individuals vary widely in the degree to which they are susceptible to hypnotic suggestion. Similar to meditation, rumination, and prayer- all involve intense periods of focus. Assessed by the standard hypnotic susceptibility scale form c (shssc) gradually increasing the complexity of the suggested behaviours. Suggested that they had lost their ability to read and they had to press a key to indicate the colour of the (cid:862)lines on the page(cid:863) Eliminated the stroop effect for people who are highly hypnotizable , when you get the suggestion and you are high suggestable. People who think the words are meaningless symbols will have eliminated the stroop. High hypnotizable have a large rostrum (a small section inside the corpus callosum) The idea that people differ in terms of what mode of instruction is most effective for them.
