Ideology = behavioural genetics used to support political agendas. Eugenics = engineering humans to express more desirable traits and phase out bad ones; master race . Inherit variables in # of things hair colour, athletic ability, personality. Percent of variance = difference between people due to certain causes (in %) Heritability: amount of phenotype variance in a group due to genotypic variance. 50% prevent of observed phenotype variation is attributed to genotypic variation. Remaining % is environmental: observed variance in a group of individuals attributed to environment. This relates to members of family and how genetics correlates to personality. This can never be viewed as definitive, due to very similar environments (such as with siblings) This is an example of a 3rd party variable. Estimating heritability by gauging whether identical twins or fraternal twins are more similar. Monozygotic twins are more similar than dizygotic. If two things (mz vs. dz) are equally similar, it will prove that nurture trumps nature.
