Document Summary
Theoretical & measurement issues in trait psychology: meaningful individual differences. Traits are consistent over time, but manifestation of trait may vary. Rank order: with a change in a given trait, a relative difference remains between individuals. Trait + situation + situation x trait = behaviour. People do thi(cid:374)gs (cid:271)e(cid:272)ause of (cid:272)ertai(cid:374) traits, e(cid:454) sh(cid:455) people do(cid:374)"t go out i(cid:374) (cid:448)er(cid:455) pu(cid:271)li(cid:272) situatio(cid:374)s. Strong situation: almost all people react similarly. Selection people (cid:449)ith (cid:272)ertai(cid:374) traits (cid:449)o(cid:374)"t put the(cid:373)sel(cid:448)es i(cid:374) the sa(cid:373)e situatio(cid:374)s as others. Evocation how people react with you will evoke a specific response: manipulation at a trait level, some people are just more manipulative than others, but certain personality traits will predict which manipulation tactic used. Some people will get stressed out very easily. Think about traits as an average tendency- how you are most of the time, not just all the time. Duplicate questions- used to verify accuracy of responses.
