Enable to detect patterns of behaviours over time: observe-report data ( o-data) Involves gathering data from other individuals. pros: access to unique data & multiple informations coms: objectivity and respondents may not be able to infer internal processes (eg. feelings). Professional personality assessors who do not know the participant in advance. Pros: the ability to secure information in the realistic context of a person"s everyday life. Cons: not being controlling conditions and behavioural samples witnessed. Arti cial observation: observations occur in setting created to resemble a real-life setting. Pros: controlling condition and eliciting the relevant behaviour.
