Document Summary

Reliability examination of the consistency (or inconsistency) or test scores. Validity examination of the inferences and conclusions drawn from test scores. Examination of whether or not a psychological test actually measures what it says it does. Are the behaviours measured by our test representative of the construct under investigation? (ex. math ability) Total set of behaviours that could be used to measure a specific attribute or characteristic for a desired population. Provides structure and boundaries to what behaviours you sample: assessing content validity. Determine the area(s) of the domain measured by each item and the weights assigned to them. Compare the structure of the test with the domain. Often difficult to define domains for psychological constructs. Focus is on the items themselves, rather than individual responses to the items. Ex. job performance and work samples (behavioural observation) May be tapping into a maximal performance as opposed to typical performance.
