Interpretability: some inventories measure a single, narrowly focused dimension, others atempt to measure several dimensions that span a broad domain of behaviour, others atempt to measure a small set of very general traits or dimensions. Stability: stability of scoring rules, stability across situaions. Few measures would be consistent in all situaions. Must be aware of range of situaions in which test will be used. Example of theoreical method: the personality research form (prf) Formulaion of a theoreically based deiniion of the traits to be assessed: based on murray"s framework for the descripion of personality. Item selecion on the basis of: simplicity of wording, content saturaion, inter-scale independence. The use of procedures to minimize suscepibility to social desirability response bias. Prf: psychometric properies: internal consistency values of . 87-. 94, test-retest reliability over 1 week ranged from . 69-. 90, validaion data.
