Support: people go through detox and no longer experience physical withdrawal and are reported to feel less desire for the drugs. If it was this simple, detox should be all it takes: even most addictive drugs, only take 2-3 days to get through detox programs. However: addicts relapse long after detoxiication, addictions develop to drugs that do not produce severe withdrawal symptoms (ie. cocaine) Therefore, there should be no addiction to cocaine but there is. Addiction is due to: craving for the drug (the pleasurable efects of the drug: hedonic efects: a drug"s pleasurable efects, incentive value: the expected pleasurable efects. A drug becomes addictive because you are chasing what you expect to be happening, and you seek the drug to experience them.
