A retirement home sometimes called an old people"s home or old age home, although this term can also refer to a nursing home is a multi-residence housing facility intended for the elderly. Importance: physical and mental needs of the elderly need to be met, accessibility, home maintenance. Retirement homes: combination of 24hr care and independent living: privately owned, flexible, tendency relationship + care services. Long term care: for people who are unable to meet ability of everyday tasks, 24hr care service + nurses + food + attention, government funded. Cooperative housing: do(cid:374)"t o(cid:449)(cid:374) the ho(cid:373)e but ha(cid:448)e equal say i(cid:374) (cid:449)hat happe(cid:374)s. Cons: expensive, expensive, no diversity (only old people, potential low standard, could be uncomfortable, regulations and restrictions. Isolation: more social, medical care, no chores, 24 hr care, personalized care, removes pressure from families. Demand of senior housing: aging demographic causing increasing demands.
