October 16, 2012 – SOAN 2120 Chapter 6,7,9 BUT you have to read chapter 4 and 10 for research project November 8 – review class – revenge Hypothesis as a Decision Making Problem - there are four possible outcomes when we conduct a hypothesis test - if H0 is not correct, we reject it, we have made the correct decision - If the null H0 is correct and we accept it, we have made the correct decision - If the H0 is correct and we reject is, we have made the wrong decision (we call this type I error) - The H0 is not correct and we accept it, we have made the wrong decision (we call this type II error) Type I and Type II Errors Type I and Type II Errors
