How does it work: state the null hypothesis. In taster counter-intuitive way we are testing the nil hypothesis. Instead, relook for evidence against the null hypothesis. If we nd signi cant evidence against the null hypothesis, we can reject it in favour of the alternative hypothesis. Can test if the value is higher or lower (not one or the other) greater than null or less. We don"t have a theory about speci c direction. If we don"t know which direction to expect the difference, we specify a 2 sided test z mores are used in hypothesis testing.
