How can we draw on our theoretical perspective to help shape our analysis: today = look at how to begin conceptualizing how to analyze data. If results confirm hypothesis, the theory is plausible: do not look for conflicts. perform analysis research, believe all interactions involve objective causes and effects, positivists believe that objectivity. In qualitative research, research tends to be based more on inductive reasoning = begin with data- analyze data-develop theory based on data. * both deductive and inductive approaches are blended. It has already begun the moment you began collecting data. Iterative process = results of one process is the beginning of the next process; learn as you go. Steps to coding: use a consistent method, we have a mountain of data: observation memos, field notes, interview, piece each of your notes together through re-occuring themes, this step can and should take a long time.
