Through the perspective of structural functionalist individuals can try to understand the acceptance of premarital sex in todays society as compared to pervious generations. As a structural functionalist highlights the contribution of any social patters to the operations of society, latent function of premarital sex arise that can be concerning which includes: increased teen pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases. In addition, structural functionalist argue that marriage is a socially sanctioned vehicle for sexual relations. And it important in maintaining the family structure, which has a role of defining the appropriate boundaries for sexual behavior. These boundaries provide society with structure and order to ensure the stability of the society.
