El salvador has a large gang problem. 3 countries in central america have an issue with it. One main way of typologizing crime is based on the main type of perpetrator, and to some extent, the social location of the crime. Difference between white collar and street crime depends on where people are in the hierarchy. Violent crime / crime against the person: Assault, murder, physical attack, armed robbery, may or may not have a weapon. Majority don"t happen in public spaces or in the street. Don"t harm anyone but who is carrying it out. Using drugs (not selling), prostitution (the seller) Low income or status type of people. Money laundering, fraud, tax evasion, embezzlement, happens in office types of jobs. Tend to be more affluent than people penalized for street crimes. Occupational crime: committed by the individual for their own benefit. Corporate crime: ford pinto, committed by an organization. Someone is always hurt by it, corporate affects public more.
