Mutual exclusivity: 1 conformity, 2 innovation get there, 3 retreatism, 4 ritualism, 5 rebellion. Population will continue to aspire to success. Deviant ways of innovation accept the goal reject the means to. They give up on the social system / they go into themselves. They just get into a ritual/routine this attitude was deviant because they gave up on the american dream. Want to replace goals and means with something different. Tell athletes to be the best they can be yet the system is designed to not have.
