The police are hesitant and very well trained as to which documents should be passed over in order to keep a positive image. That we should have the freedom of the press in order to write about police practices and hope this will give transparency and accountability. Examples: toronto police service drug corruption, g20 and racial profiling studies all started with newspaper article. It is happening less often due to the training and expenses it requires. It"s so e(cid:454)pe(cid:374)si(cid:448)e that (cid:373)a(cid:374)(cid:455) (cid:374)e(cid:449)s statio(cid:374)s are a(cid:271)a(cid:374)do(cid:374)i(cid:374)g i(cid:374)(cid:448)estigati(cid:448)e jour(cid:374)alis(cid:373); which raises questions about democracy. The media is repeating police new press releases verbatim. Which means that the views that the police want the public to see is written in the media so that we see the police as they want them to see them.
