If only playing once highest payof is to defect: max you can get is 4 min you can get is 2 if you defect, if cooperate max you can get is 3 min you can get is 1. Accept altruism from suckers but never reciprocate: suckers. Help anyone who helps them but, bears a grudge on those who cheat them. Tit-for-tat strategy leads to reciprocal altruism: nice : never cheats irst, retaliatory : sees cheaing and cheats too, forgiving : forgives earlier cheaing/short memory. Condiions for prisoners dilemma: temptaion to defect (4), reward for cooperaion(3) , punishment for defecing (2), sucker"s payof (1)
