Asymmetrical so can"t really be cut in half. Water goes in from the sides and out through the big holes. Derived character have several planes of radial symmetry. There"s a single body axis: the axis gives direction to the body. Allows description of body parts and its location. Single layer cells form a hollow ball of cells. We have to get from a single layer embryo to a 3 layer embryo. The blastopore can either be the mouth or the anus. Phylum cnidaria: first form of animals like this.
