Population - a group of individuals belonging to the same species inhabiting a speci c geographical area. Community - a unit which consists of populations of all species in a speci c geographic area. Ecosystem - interactions of the community w both the biotic & abiotic factors. Energy is transferred from one organism to another organism by feeding. Trophic levels: organism: autotrophs - producers. Eg. plants (land & aquatic), algae (green algae: heterotrophs - consumers. Primary consumers: herbivores - feed directly on plants, eg. cattle, zebra, zooplankton. Secondary consumers: carnivores - feed on primary consumers, eg. humans that feed on cattle, lions that feed on zebras, hydra that feed on zooplankton. Tertiary consumers: carnivores that feed on secondary consumers, no clear levels for some - omnivores. Bear - eat plant, berries (producers), eat rabbit: decomposers - detritivores.
