oS78 Periglacial Landscapes : Landscapes near glaciers (important element near Canada) Geography of Permafrost Northern Canada is mostly covered in permafrost either continuous or discontinuous. Ground Ice and Frozen Ground Phenomena Continuous: entire ground is below 0 degrees for at least 2 years. Extends up to 400m in the high arctic. Discontinuous: contains blocks that are always frozen, but more ground is not always frozen.
