And later he becomes a reason for the revolution. Samoza dynasty used their political power as dictators to economically benefit themselves. By 1970, the samoza family controlled 25% of the agriculture (large portion of the industry) their estimated wealth: 500 million dollars. 1956: annastacio somoza is assassinated lead to growing opposition that took place in. 1960s, became increasingly vocal after the cuban revolution. 1961: 3 university students formed the sandinista national liberation fund.
