Document Summary

Morality brings happiness to the person who is moral. This is why one should be moral, because everyone wants to be happy. To demonstrate this, some philosophers (most of them living centuries ago in the eastern mediterranean) claimed that morality affects first and foremost who we are and in this way influences our happiness, and our lie in general. Philosophy"s goal is not just to tell us what the right/morally good thing to do is, but rather to make us good people. Becoming good people is, then, seen as a step (in fact, a prerequisite) for being happy. A good person is someone who does the right thing ancient theory. A good person is someone who has the right kind of character. There are a number of answers to this question. The usual answer is to give a list of virtues, which are considered positive character traits for example.
