Unit 4 (chapter 5 + 6 + 7) Observing and systematically recording particular behavior(s) to describe the behavior in question much better. Direct observation observing one"s behavior which is reported with detail note taking in the research can be done in one of two ways: Without intervention: minimizes intervention and interfere as little as possible. With intervention: alerts some aspects of the environment as a participant"s behavior is recorded very common in psychology. Hawthorne plant of western electric: sometimes forgotten very quickly e. g, how many infractions will happen if people notice cameras w/o reactivity, should focus on the scope of the observation. Field experiment: involves intervention while field work does not e. g, suppose teachers are told that 20 students have been tested, and their test scores show that they are primed for learning. In fact, the 20 students were randomly chosen from the class list. Here the manipulation in the environment is represented only in the minds of the teachers.
