Culture influences beliefs about sexuality: usually talk about the function of sex in different cultures (ie: pleasure vs. procreation), acceptable sexual behaviors vary with times and culture. Report that they think more about sex and want more sex. Hard to get real results, because sex is considered to be private . Tend to want and have more sexual partners: consist across cultures. Have more sexual dysfunction as they age. Mens desire for sex remains constant; does not change if they are in a relationship or single. Report desire for sex more often linked to relationship status and social norms. Tend to be more ashamed of appearance flaws in a sexual relationship: can interfere with sexual satisfaction. Across all age categories, women more likely than men to report sexual dysfunction. Among women with symptoms of sexual dysfunction, more than half believe their symptoms are caused by relationship problems.
