Opimists far beter than pessimisists when confronted with stressful situaions because their belief and expectaions help them cope, whereas the beleifs and expectaions of pessimists hurt them. The strategies for opimists for managing stress is beter: they approach problems head-on, do whatever they can to beter the situaion and engage in acive problem-focused coping. When things are not controllable, they use adapive coping mechanisms such as posiive reframing, seeing the best in the situaion or learning from a bad situaion. Emoion focused coping: pessimists show this type of coping, works to lessen the emoional distress caused by the stress, the atempt to reduce or manage the negaive emoions and distress they feel as a result of the stress. Can be done via puing a posiive spin on events, denying the stress, turning to religion or seeking for a friend for comfort.
