Document Summary

Athletes should prepare and follow a compeiion plan: can help athletes manage their thoughts, manage their anxiety and stay focused. Athletes should focus on what they want to do, not what they don"t want to do: focus on what one wants to do during a compeiion, not what one doesn"t want to do this helps maintain conidence. The athlete is atending too many cues or distracions from the environment. To ensure good conidence and concentraion during compeiions, one must make the inal stages of pracice as similar as possible to the condiions presented at compeiions. Another strategy for minimizing the efects of distracions is for the athlete to have a well-praciced compeiion plan to follow on the day of the compeiion. Problem: the athlete experiences (cid:3247)paralysis by analysis(cid:3248) this is over analyzing the paricular movements that go with performing a skill athletes should be able to do these moves without over thinking things.
