An athlete might be focused on external cues when it might be appropriate to concentrate of paricular kinestheic feelings. Teach an athlete to rapidly shit from one type of simulus to another. Athletes should perform well in simulaions: pracices should construct environments that represent compeiive situaions so when ime comes, both compeiions and simulaions are well performed upon.
