The process by which europe expanded out into other parts of eurasia. Shows a map of the world with the portion controlled by islamic nations shaded in green, and major concentrations of population (and areas for trade) represented by circles. The text explains that the last lecture looked at how europe was hemmed into a corner of the world with little to trade but salt cod and wool.
