Effective research does not confirm your biases or assumptions but instead equips you to assess important ideas, identify patterns, and locate trends. Using secondary research means examining credible and valuable sources to test your own theories and ideas, which then equips you to do the work. In short, research enables critical and creative thinking. You need to gather information in order to identify the problem and you need data that will support the recommendations and claims you make in your report you need research to support your argument.
