Weakness (co-enzyme not present to help get energy from all macronutrients) We (cid:272)a(cid:374) (cid:373)ake so(cid:373)e (cid:374)ia(cid:272)i(cid:374) fro(cid:373) tr(cid:455)ptopha(cid:374), (cid:271)ut (cid:449)e still do(cid:374)(cid:859)t (cid:373)ake e(cid:374)ough. 1 niacin equivalent (ne) = 1 mg niacin = 60 mg tryptophan. ~3% of all tryptophan we consume will be converted into niacin in the liver. Corn has a lot of niacin but we get access to it once we soak it in a basic solution, e. g. *any kind of meat is a good source of b vitamins. *milk products are not good for b vitamins, except for b2 and b12 lime. Function: converted to active b6: plp (pyridoxal phosphate) Plp is coenzyme in reactions of protein metabolism. E. g. formation of heme ring: has fe at the very center surrounded by nitrogen. Conversion of trp niacin (b6 requiring reaction)
