Document Summary

Change in the gene transcription allows the organisms to adapt to environmental change. Operon - a set of gene that are close together and regulated as a set. When the promoter is active all the enzymes are made together in one batch. The genes are responsible for the same thing. You need an inducer to turn o the enzyme. It is a small soluble molecule and is an end product or a metabolic made during some step n the synthetic pathway. ( step in making a protein ) Almost always an end product of a synthetic pathway, the accumulation of cholesterol turn o this gene. You need a regulatory protein, something the prevents mrna to be transcribed. The active form is able to bind the dna when the active repressor is not active you get mrna transcription. There is an activator, when there is binding. Lac operon is operated bu the cap protein.
