Amath 242/cs 371 spring 2018: course outline. Teacher assistants: ke nian, wei yang, zeming liu. This course is intended as an introduction to the computational methods and issues encountered when solving re- alistic examples in scienti c computation. Assignments will involve both theoretical work and programming tasks. The following lecture plan is tentative and may be subject to change. Important: not all of the course material will be covered during the lectures. It is important that you also read the course text: text: amath 242/cs 371 course notes. Optional: numerical analysis, burden and faires, eighth edition, 2005: grading. If you are unable to write the midterm for legitimate reasons, then the nal exam is 75% of your nal grade. In addition to this, you must pass the nal exam (i. e. achieve a grade of at least 50%) to pass the course, otherwise your nal grade will equal the grade on your nal exam: programming languages.
