Document Summary

As fuel enters float bowl, it pushes float up which pushes needle up and it locks the hole (fuel inlet: as float ball drops, the needle does and fuel enters. Air inlet, air accelerates (bernoulli"s theorem: the semi-circular venture creates the acceleration. When throttle is idled, the butterfly valve closes: but does not restrict fuel flow completely, some fuel enters to prevent engine from shutting down. When throttle is advanced, air accelerates first and then the fuel (weighs more) Mixture needle: restricts amount of fuel by blocking the small fuel inlet. Functions of the carburetor: measures correct quantity of fuel (by weight, vaporizes fuel then mixes the vapour with air in proper proportion, delivers mixture to cylinders. Carb operation: low pressure is created in venture, and fuel is drawn into the throat as mist where it is vaporized, fuel/air mixture enters intake manifold (regulated by throttle)
