Mendel used selective breeding to produce true-breeding (pure-breeding) lines of peas where the offspring always showed same genotype as the parent plants. He had a bunch of different peas, yellow, green etc. Monohybrid crosses: had true breeding or pure breeding lines, ex. Pure breeded yellow peas and pure breeding green peas: with humans the problem becomes that their always people coming from outside and (cid:455)ou (cid:272)a(cid:374)"t (cid:272)o(cid:374)trol that (cid:449)hereas i(cid:374) peas or pla(cid:374)ts it (cid:449)as just o(cid:374)e generation line. Discrete units of inheritance are alleles of genes.
