Prostate gland in males lies directly inferior to the bladder and surrounds the urethra: urethra. Shorter in females and longer in males. Tube that extends from the bladder to the exterior, allowing urine to leave the bladder. There is an internal and external urethra. There is an internal and external urethral sphincter, the internal one is involuntary smooth muscle control of passage of urine, and external is found in the urogenital diaphragm which is voluntary muscle.
