Description
Homologous chromosomes: 1 from mother, 1 from father -carry same genes and same location of the chromosome -difference between the 2: alleles (diff types of the same gene) -different nucleotide sequences -46 chromosomes in the human cell -22 homologous chromosomes (autosomal) in a male cell (not 23 b/c x and Y sex chromosomes) -numbered 1-22 by size (1 is largest, 22 is smallest) -genes on chromosome 1 will not be found on chromosome 5 or any other chromosome (b/c same genes are found on homologous chromosomes)  if they are, there must be some sort of mutation -centromere: a nucleotide sequence -1 on 1 sister chromatid, and 1 on another sister chromatid; so 2 centromeres in 1 centromere region (each chromatid has its own centromere) -telomere: ends of the linear DNA molecule -in 2 DNA molecules, there are 4 telomeres -4 gene copies (2 fro
