It all began with aeneas -> prince of troy: aeneas (prince of troy), anchises (son) & ascanius (iulus) These three escape troy when it falls to the greeks: alba longa : chief city on latian plain. Aeneas enters alba longa (part of the latin legaue), where he marries the kings daughter. Romulus and remus, founders of rome, had come from the royal dynasty of alba longa, which in virgil"s aeneid had been the bloodline of aeneas: romulus and remus (legendary founders of rome) Sextus rapes lucreta, a virgil priestess, which was the last straw for the romans. Brutus and his fellow romans overthrew the king -> rome republic begins.
