In early roman, the prince was trying to increase the population and no one would give roman men their daughters to marry: roman gods, less anthropomorphic. The tended to see them less anthropomorphic than the greeks. The greeks made them look like humans and act like them, the romans did not find it interesting to make them to that degree. They tended to look at them as powers of the universe and that they would be honoured: assimilated gods. Their man gods were assimilated to the greek gods: mars (ares): much more important to the romans than they were to the greeks.
