Memes were primarily jokes at one point - today they are jokes but are also used in many other ways. We pass social memes and social traditions on. Memes therefore determine the behaviour of an organism. Any social activity was considered a meme that we pass on from generation to generation. Meme: a piece of culture, typically a joke, which gain influence through online transmission. Fidelity of form (a lot of people can see them and react to them very quickly. They can spread as fast as a web browser can reload) Fidelity: measurement of quality of reproduction. (low fidelity: low reproduction) Fidelity of a cultural form is just as important as fidelity of a reproduction form. Paradox of a meme: memes are high in fidelity because they are easy to use. The thing we are looking at that is a meme. Behaviour: the action taken by the individual in service of the meme.
