The lamp sheds light on an object. Two ways something can be seen by illumination or reflection. There is no standard way to evaluate art, because people cannot agree on the proper way to do it. Interpretation is empirical in method, but cannot be objectively verifiable. There are four orientations that can be used to see how the work relates to the world. Aristotle denies the existence of the world of ideas. He thinks there are ideas, but they are not in another world. In this sense, the artist can now contemplate things without an accusation of mimicry because there is no higher essence/being. Aristotle argues that there is a correct way to imitate nature the form of the art object must match the form of the art. The effect of the work on the audience. For example, theatre is useful for society because it provides catharsis for the audience.
