ENGL109 Lecture Notes - Lecture 2: Free Writing, Five Ws, Brainstorming
Document Summary
Instead of writing everything down, you will represent thoughts on a min map. (start with the subject in the middle, and branch out, descending in terms of value to the main topic as it branches out) This helps you see everything as a simplified concept instead of a fully written argument and helps find connections to your planning. These connections allow you to organize your idea into larger groups and smaller sub groups. Helps you organize your main idea and what you want to say about it. You can use lists, or audio too, depends on the type of learner you are. Helps you get past the thinking stage of writing. When you overthink things when you"re writing, this is when writers block comes in. Free writing also forces you to write everything down which is good because sometimes good ideas aren"t immediately obvious.
