Stages and challenges: collection. there are challenges, preparation for sale. the major objective. it is important to make it marketable. Mrfs are the places that sort the recyclables from the blue box. the materials need to be sorted into bundles. they mechanize the process as much as possible, but mistakes happen. Ideally, the materials are used in a closed loop. E. g. , newspaper. the disposed paper goes to the paper mill into pulp. Because the cellulose bres become shorter after each consecutive recycling, the resulting paper becomes weaker, until the bres are naught. Therefore, paper is not ideal, cause cannot be used inde nitely. still, considered as a closed-loop. When the material is used for other purposes. However, it is important to separate by colour. it is very expensive to separate at mrfs.
