Bc is far from poliical and economic hear of country. Dramaic interface between the sea and the mountains which deines province. Bc is divided into 2 parts, the cordillera accounts for the bulk of the province and the interior plains, occupying a small porion of its northeast corner. Bc has access to paciic ocean except for its far north, where the alaska panhandle (strip of paciic coast, north, belonging to usa) blocks sea access. Vancouver island was created because of the san andres faultline (every year it moves) Probability there will be a disaster because of a huge fault under water. 2 contrasing climates (west coast and interior) with mountainous terrain. 3 examples of natural diversity: rain forests along the coast, desert-like condiions in the interior plateau, and alpine tundra found at high elevaions in many mountains. Physical contrast between the wet bc coast and dry interior is largely due to efect of precipitaion at coast.
