What"s covered: deemed to be medically necessary- hospital and physician services, (federal regulation these funds have to be used for these things , most things inside a hospital are covered, some things outside are not, What"s not: long-term care and social supports, mental health care, Hospitals: most are public , provinces are organized in different ways there are some that are private in. Regionalization: move in the 90s to move towards regionalized health care systems, in the last years- they consolidated them and reduced in numbers. Financial flow in chs: many different players and stake holders, costs us a lot of money. We have a decentralized system different health care system in different provinces: spend different amounts, Federal govt. negotiates with the govt. in individual provinces, First ministers of federal and provincial govt. did not meet on hc between "09-"15.
