Bob is a senior manager in the company where you are an hr administrator. Bob is also very good friends with your parents and regularly invites them to his cottage in the summer. Bob asks if you could tell him what his upcoming bonus will be; he has serious financial problems and may have to take out a loan today if his bonus is not high enough. He says it would be a shame if he had to sell the cottage. Providing such information, despite the fact that he is a friend and he is in financial problems, would be a breach of confidentiality and code of ethics policies. The company has entrusted you with the responsibility of inputting confidential information, and divulging information contained in the system to specific individuals ahead of dissemination at approved times and through approved channels would be a breach of trust.
