Well-being is underpinned by social determinants of health. Social determinants of health are directly related to level of development. Development is therefore key to understanding health outcomes. Positive health outcomes require equitable social and economic development. There is a strong correlation between levels of wealth and health. This can be seen through the statement wealthier is healthier. This statement can be explained through: access to health care: this is determined through treatment, prevention & knowledge, social determinants of health: this is the conditions under which people live that affect their opportunities to lead healthy lives. Access to health care and social determinants of health can reflect the levels of inequalities in a society. According to the who, social determinant of health is: The conditions in which people are born, grow, live, work and age, including the health system and the wider set of forces and systems shaping the conditions of daily life.
