A group of symptoms pertaining to cognitive function, emotional, behviroal, and
relational problems
Thought to be attributable to repeated blows to the head = cumulative brain injury
oCognitive symptoms include: confusion, loss of concentration, memory
loss
oEmotional/behavioral symptoms include: low mood or depression
oRelational problems include: interpersonal aggression and disrupted lose
relationships
What is known?
Originally documented in boxers
Identified in post mortem brain tissues (tangles in brain called Tau proteins)
No definitive evidence that the association between football and CTE symptoms
is definitive
