Don"t need to memorize protein fat and carb numbers. Whole point is to know that all seeds and nuts are not the same. Low in fat with exception of avocado. Carbs are premium fuel, need to replenish after marathon. Consume lots of protein to trigger protein synthesis. It is more important to consume carbs vs. protein. Fruits are low in protein, sodium, calcium, iron, zinc. Low in energy (fats, except avocado), nutrient dense. Displaces other foods that contains bad nutrients and we get more micronutrients and phytochemicals combats diseases. Potatoes, turnips, carrots (improved beta-carotene after cooking), yams. Not all lettuces are the same in terms of nutrient content. Iceberg lettuce lacks vitamins (cheaper) but is a filler. Low in fat, protein, low in energy but high in micronutrients.
